In recent days, Grand Farm Co., Ltd., a resident enterprise of the International Healthy Food Port, has successfully passed two major international food standard certifications, BRCGS (British Retail Consortium Global Food Safety Standard) and IFS (International Food Standard), becoming the first - and so far only - company in the domestic livestock and beef and mutton industry to receive quality certification from both of these European food standards bodies. Artist Rendering of Central Kitchen at Grand Farm's Yangpu Deep Processing and Refining Project This development is veritable music to meat lovers' ears within China, as it means that they can now enjoy beef and mutton products of the highest international standard without the expense of a plane ticket. What exactly is ‘European dual certification’ ? The BRCGS was established by UK retailers and suppliers to assess the safety of retailers’ own-brand produce and has now become an internationally-recognized food specification. IFS is issued by the Federation of German Trade Organizations and has a high degree of recognition in Germany, France, Italy and many EU countries. In some retail markets in Europe and the United States, products will not be able to enter their markets without IFS certification. In a nutshell, these standards are internationally recognized as two of the most credible food standard certifications, and are both endorsed by GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative). These two major certification systems demand high quality standards for food supply and the ability to ensure safety and hygiene. Gaining accreditation through these two certification systems means that the quality management system, supplier management, processing, product control, production environment and other aspects have reached an advanced level in global terms, and that the product quality is comparable to the international first-class level. The significance of Grand Farm gaining these two certifications is not only to showcase the superior quality of their products and increase customer confidence in their brand, but also to fully demonstrate that the domestic meat industry has entered a stage of high-quality development. The investment promotion work of the International Healthy Food Port will continue to target leading food companies with sophisticated and social responsible business practices to lead the premium meat processing sector with high-quality healthy and safe food, while encouraging Chinese people to embrace a healthy life and a bright future.
